DAL MAKHNI (BLACK GRAM WITH RED KIDNEY BEANS)

Ginger-Garlic Paste
2 teaspoon

Garam Masala
¾   teaspoon
12.
Red chili powder
¼ teaspoon (accordingly)
13.
Yellow butter
1 tablespoon
14.
Fresh Cream
For garnishing



Servings: 5


Method:

  1. Soak the red kidney beans overnight so that they turn tender and big. Wash the pulses with running water.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add olive oil. When the temperature rises, add chopped onions, sauté them for a while till they turn nice and pink in color. Now add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder. (You can even use ginger and garlic pieces too.)
  3. Sauté it for 3-4 minutes. After this add the chopped tomatoes and cook till the mixture leaves oil.
  4. Now add to it garam masala and red chili powder and give it a good mix.
  5. Finally add the soaked beans, washed pulses and water (around 4-5 cups). Put the lid of the pressure cooker on and after it whistles for the first time, cook it on simmer for about 30 minutes.
  6. Turn of the gas. Garnish it with cream, butter and fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with bread/roti/tandoori roti/naan.

  2. So glad you found me at Blogaholic. With the fall chilly season here this recipe is a must try. I am always interested in recipes that have legumes in them as I am a newbie to these tasty yummies. Thank you for this one.
